Daqueenna Kandice Lius, a 14-year-old from Indonesia, has made history as the first and youngest Indonesian to achieve the highest overall score of 1,550 in all categories at the prestigious 2023 ADEX International Mermaid Competition. Her remarkable achievement was celebrated during the ASEAN Festival at Gembox Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, recognizing her contribution to Sports & Recreation in Southeast Asia.
The competition, held from August 18 to 20 at the Sabah International Convention Centre during the ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit, brought together elite mermaids from around the world. Daqueenna’s exceptional performance stood out, showcasing her mastery in swimming technique, breath control, and fluidity—key criteria in this skill-intensive competition.
